ETNOFILm summer tour
Although our ETNOFILm lasts for only few days a year, the organization team is working hard on promoting our authors so it`s a great pleasure to introduce festivals which screened some of our ethnographic films within their official programs, and in that way presented our authors to a wider range of viewers.
1.CIK film festival (Civilisation and Culture Film Festival) was held on the 25th and 26th of June in Matulji. Although still in it`s early fase, the Festival gathered a great amount of people and introduced three of our movies: Zubanje u Dubici by Ivo Kuzmanić, Hrapoćuša i vitalac and Komiški kvarantore by Davor Borić.
Antique Film Nights – as a part of the official DORF Festival program – were held from 3rd to 16th of July in Vinkovci. In a cooperation with their Art Director Toni Šarić, AFN screened Živa glava i vinkl by Branko Lazić, Cast in India by Natasha Raheja i 52 Veroes by Fabio Cuhna to the audience in Vinkovci during their ETNOFILm Night.
52 Veroes by Fabio Cuhna, this year`s winner in our most numerous ETNOFILm category (films by authors that are not professional ethnologists/anthropologists) was screened within the program of the 7th Supetar Super Film Festivala, held from the 13th to 18th of July 2015. Despite the hard times for culture, this years` edition of the Festival was even bigger and better than the previous ones and we are proud that one of our winners was a part of it.
In our Museum`s home town – Pazin – we recently had our TradInEtno festival. A young, but strong manifestation with all kinds of workshops, concerts etc. One part of the program were ETNOFILm movie nights. During the later, we introduced five of our movies to local audience and Festival guests.
It`s a pleasure to announce a new cooperation between the Ethnographic Museum of Istria and Ethnographic Museum in Split, which will bring to our biggest tourist destination a project called Summer ETNOFILm cinema. The screenings will be held in the Museum from the 3rd to 8th of August. During that week, 17 of our authors will be introduced to locals and foreign visitors. The main goal of this project is to bring people closer to ethnographic films and documentaries. Therefore, the manifestation is non-comercial and all the screenings will be free of charge.
Thanks to all the authors who selflessly provided their work to us, for sharing it for educational purposes, thanks to our partner festivals and Ethnographic Museum in Split. We hope that our cooperations will be longlasting and that they`ll create an even better climate for documentary forms.
